This agreement outlines the conditions for polishing and conservation services arranged through Provenance Selection.
本規約は Provenance Selection を通じて手配される日本刀の研磨および保存サービスの条件を定めるものです。
By requesting such services, the client agrees to the terms described below.
本サービスを依頼することにより、依頼者は以下の条件に同意したものとみなされます。
1. Nature of the Work
1. 作業の性質
Polishing is a traditional conservation process intended to preserve and reveal the characteristics of a Japanese sword.
研磨は日本刀の状態を保存し、その特徴を引き出すことを目的とした伝統的な保存作業です。
The process involves the careful removal of a small amount of metal from the blade surface.
この作業では刃の表面から微量の金属が除去されます。
For this reason, polishing is irreversible.
そのため、研磨は 不可逆の作業 となります。
2. Possible Discovery of Hidden Characteristics
2. 潜在的特徴の顕在化
During the polishing process, characteristics that were previously hidden may become visible.
研磨の過程で、それまで見えなかった特徴が現れる場合があります。
These may include forging characteristics, structural features, or historical wear.
これには鍛造由来の特徴、構造的特徴、または経年による状態が含まれる場合があります。
Such discoveries are considered part of the historical nature of the object and do not constitute service defects.
これらは歴史的工芸品としての性質によるものであり、作業上の欠陥とはみなされません。
3. No Guarantee of Aesthetic Outcome

The visual outcome of polishing depends on the individual characteristics and condition of each blade.
研磨後の外観は刀の状態や個体差によって大きく左右されます。
Provenance Selection does not guarantee any specific aesthetic result or market evaluation.
当方は特定の美観的結果や市場評価を保証するものではありません。
4. Acceptance or Refusal of Work
4. 作業の受諾および拒否
Prior to arranging polishing, the condition of the item will be reviewed.
研磨手配前に、対象品の状態確認が行われます。
If conservation work is deemed inappropriate or unnecessary, the request may be declined.
保存上不適切または不要と判断された場合、作業をお断りすることがあります。
This decision may be made by the craftsman or the arranging party.
この判断は研ぎ師または手配者により行われる場合があります。
5. Estimated Timeframe

Polishing is a specialized craft requiring significant time and care.
研磨は高度な技術と時間を要する専門作業です。
Completion times vary depending on the blade condition, the craftsman's schedule, and related administrative procedures.
作業期間は刀の状態、研ぎ師の作業状況、行政手続き等により変動します。
Any timeframe provided should be considered an estimate only.
提示される期間はあくまで目安となります。
6. Payment

Full payment is required before the polishing process is arranged.
研磨手配前に 全額前払い が必要となります。
Once work has begun, the service fee is non-refundable.
作業開始後のサービス費用は返金できません。
7. Cancellation
7. キャンセル
Once a polishing request has been accepted and the client has agreed to the proposed work scope, estimated timeframe, and service fee, and payment has been completed, the order is considered final.
研磨依頼について、作業方針、作業期間の目安、および見積金額に依頼者が同意し、支払いが完了した時点で、注文は確定したものとみなされます。
After this point, cancellation is not permitted.
この時点以降、キャンセルはできません。
8. Storage During Work

Items entrusted for polishing will be handled with reasonable care.
預託された刀は合理的な注意をもって取り扱われます。
However, no insurance coverage is automatically provided unless separately arranged.
特別な手配がない限り、保険は自動的には付帯されません。
